About Me

I'm Brian Harkins. I have been licensed to practice law in Louisiana for 32 years.  My full name is David O'Brian Harkins Jr., but I have always been called Brian.

I served as Assistant District Attorney for almost 24 years, and that's where I developed my passion for this area of the law.   When one serves as a prosecuting attorney for that long one becomes an expert, of sorts, in the area of human tragedy.  I witnessed loved ones of victims of crime experience drastic, sometimes financially catastrophic, life changes that could have been prevented with just a little planning.   I also witnessed the problems families encountered when victims died.    

Tragedy is tragedy, no matter the cause.  Whenther that tradegy was caused by a violent crime, or it was caused by disease.  That is why I chose the area of Successions and Estate Planning.

Tragedy can take many forms, whether caused by violent crime or illness. Tragedy is just tragedy, no matter the cause.  This understanding is why I chose to practice in the areas of Successions and Estate Planning.
